Pressview Engine is at the technological heart of Pressview and PressviewPro services.
It's first of all a search engine which is innovating in user navigation ergonomics. Further characteristics are that it can be used on a heterogeneous database of documents, resulting from scans of prints or PDF files; no documentary indexing is required and it enables the recovery of document databases in optimum economical conditions.
The two key aspects are:
- The Image Context process:
Advanced search engines necessarily provide the pages corresponding to the search criteria, as well as parts of the context taken from the text in the document in order to quickly get a good grasp of the list of results. However this is not always possible, particularly when:
- only the OCR of the page is available, as it isn't generally in a presentable condition,
- the page layout is a determing criteria, for example because of the image.
The Image Context process presents the results list in the form of boxes displaying the image extracts from each page, centered on the most relevant word.
The user can then very quickly make use of the result list without having to open every document, this represents a significant gain in time and comfort. Moreover, when you can at a glance eliminate instantly results that are obviously not related to the topic targeted, the user doesn't need to be an expert in the field of documentary searching, and this opens up the access to information.
